A pair of Luke Callander goals saw ten-man Blues rescue a point at Wingate & Finchley, on Tuesday.
The visitors had made the perfect start to the game in North London when Callander rose high to head home Alfie Mason’s cross after just three minutes.
But the Bostik League strugglers levelled after 13 minutes when Irniti Rapal fired home, after Blues failed to clear and things went from bad to worse shortly afterward when captain Sam Robbins was sent off after pulling back a forward in the box and Sean Cronin converted from the spot.
Mark Haines made a welcome return immediately after the red card, replacing the unfortunate Alex Warman as Blues tightened up at the back.
Ben Worman went close to levelling for Stortford before Callander hit his second of the game five minutes before the break as Mason was again the provider with a low cross for the big man to convert.
Stortford did well to soak up the pressure in the second half and a fantastic tackle by Ryan Henshaw denied Beckles-Richard in dying minutes as the visitors hung on for a point.
Alfie Mason winner gave Blues a 3-2 win when the teams met at the ProKit UK Stadium in early October. Jamie Cureton looked to have given Blues all three points with a first half brace, but Wingate scored twice after the break before Mason’s last minute heroics.
