Smith’s a happy man after victory

Blues’ boss Steve Smith was a happy man after his co-manager Jamie Cureton’s hat-trick helped his side to a 4-2 home win against Whitehawk, on Saturday.

“It’s great that Curo got to 350 goals today” he said “It’s great for the younger players to play in the same side as him his hunger and desire to keep playing and scoring is unbelievable and all credit to him for the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch.”
It wasn’t just the performance of veteran forward Cureton that pleased Smith in a victory where the final scoreline flattered the visitors:
“I was happy with team’s  performance with a great result” he said. “Regardless to what people are saying the front two were great today Curo took his goals really well but Cally [Luke Callander] held the ball up and did the job he was brought in to do.
” I also think when Spider [Ryan Charles] plays like that he is a special player. It was a  strong performance all over the pitch, the two late goals flattered white hawk but Nathan Pinney is a good player and scores goals like that on a regular basis.
“I ‘d like to  thank everyone for their support, it was a great atmosphere and it really lifts the players when they get that kind of encouragement.
“On to Margate next week where hopefully we can go and get a result.”
