Blues will look to build on an encouraging performance against Dagenham & Redbrige when they Southend United on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7.45pm.
The Shrimpers are expected to bring their full first team squad to the ProKit UK Stadium, with admission prices slashed to £6 for adults and £4 for concessions.
A decent performance from Blues couldn’t prevent a full Southend first team leaving the ProKit UK Stadium with a 4-0 win when we met last season. The Shrimpers scored twice in each half, with their final two goals coming late in the game, to wrap up a comfortable victory.
Don’t forget to visit the club bar on Tuesday with guest ales
Adnams’ Explorer and Ghost Ship as well as St Austell Proper Job on sale.
Southend finished tenth in League 2 last season, collecting 63 points from 46 games. For the fourth straight season they went out of the FA Cup at the first round, losing 1-0 at Yeovil Town.
They also departed from the League Cup at the first stage, losing 1-0 at home against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Their pre-season campaign has seen mixed results, with a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen’s development side in Spain before they went down 6-0 at Tottenham in a closed-doors game which saw a Erik Lamel first half hat-trick helped his side to a 5-0 lead at the break.
They returned to action on Sunday with a 1-1 home draw against Leeds United, but Tuesday will see their only midweek friendly before they wrap up pre-season at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
