Royston trip for Blues

Blues make their first ever league trip to Garden Walk to face Royston on Monday afternoon.

Former Takeley boss Steve Castle has put together an squad with plenty of experience at a higher level, but with only three wins from the last eight games they have dropped to eighth with 64 points from 38 games and their play-off hopes are realistically over.

The teams met at the ProKit UK Stadium on New Year’s Day, and it was a game that Blues will want to forget as they went down 3-0.

While that was the first league meeting between the sides, the last three years have seen Blues come out on top in county cup ties against the Crows, including a 1-0 victory in the 2015 Charity Cup final.

After being Evo-Stik South Premier strugglers Dunstable Town in the FA Cup first qualifying round the Crows went out at home in a replace against National League South side Braintree Town.

They also progressed in the FA Trophy with wins against Enfield Town and Leatherhead before losing on penalties against another National League South Eastbourne Borough following a pair of draws.
