Massive weekend for Blues

It’s the biggest weekend of the season for Blues as they face two key games in their push for a play-off spot.
Stortford travel to Lewes on Saturday on what is likely to be Jamie Cureton’s 1000th senior game, and they will celebrate that achievement on Easter Monday when they host Brightlingsea Regent, kick-off 3pm.
Both games will give the Blue Brazil the chance to avenge losses earlier in the season, and they will need to extend their winning run to seven games if they are going to maintain their run at the play-offs.
Cureton and Steve Smith’s side are now two places and as many points behind fifth placed Worthing with three games remaining, and the battle to get in the post-season goes down to ninth placed Folkestone.
Blues will visit a Lewes team who are sitting in tenth place with 58 points from 39 games, but would need a freak set of results to reach the play-offs.
When the sides met at the ProKit UK Stadium in December, Ryan Charles’ goal proved to be on a consolation as they went down 2-1.
Brightlingsea’s second season in the third tier of non-league football has seen a steady campaign and they go into Saturday’s home game against promotion-chasing Leatherhead in 14th place with 53 points from 39 games.
Regent will be making their first trip to Stortford. The sides met just after Christmas and Blues produced one of their worst performances of the campaign as they went down 1-0.
