League Cup trip for Blues

After sitting out Saturday’s action due to scheduled opponents Wingate & Finchley being involved in the FA Trophy, Blues start a busy week by travelling to Mertsham for a Velocity Trophy quarter-final tie, on Wednesday.
A 1-0 home win against Enfield Town saw the Surrey side move upto ninth in the Bostik League Premier Division with 38 points from 24 games, and when the sides met at the Specsavers Stadium in October a late Isaac Nkosi goal salvaged a point for the Blues.
In common with Blues the Moorsiders made a quick exit from the FA Cup, drawing twice with Cray Valley PM before going out on penalties while in the Trophy they won 2-0 at home against East Grinstead Town before losing by the same score at Salisbury.
Their League Cup campaign started with a 4-2 win at Thamesmead Town before winning 2-1 at Hastings United and 3-1 at Worthing to set up Wednesday’s big game.
After 116 years in local and county football, the Moatsiders joined the Isthmian League a decade ago and are now in their fourth season in the Premier Division.
A difficult 2017/18 campaign saw them slip down to 18th place, with crowds down to an average of 182. They suffered early exits in both FA competitions, losing to Tooting & Mitcham at the first stage of the Cup and Sittingbourne in the Trophy.
