Haringey Borough 3 Blues 1

BLUES’ first ever trip to White Hart Lane ended in disappointment as they went down 3-1, on Monday evening.

lcLuke Callander’s second half header was only a consolation for the visitors as they slipped to a second straight defeat as the hosts moved up to second in the table and Stortford dropped to eighth.

Joint bosses Steve Smith and Jamie Cureton made one change to the side that went down against Lewis, replacing Callander with Hector Kyprianou in the starting line-up.

The hosts started strongly with Blues’ keeper Callum Kitscha saving well from Ralston Gabriel and Joel Noble.

But he was powerless to stop Borough taking an 11th minute lead when Gabriel’s deflected shot fell kindly into the path of Charley Barker and he finished from eight yards.

Blues went close to levelling four minutes later when a good move between Ryan Charles and Cureton saw Alfie Mason’s powerful effort from 15 yards turned away by Valery Pajetat in the home goal.

There was little to choose between the two sides in the rest of the half with Cureton going close with a free-kick and Johnville Renee forcing Pajetat into a good save shortly before the break.

But it took only four second half minutes for Borough to double their lead when skipper Sam Robbins fouled Nouble in the box, and the former Blue converted from the spot.

Within a minute Blues had halved their deficit when a perfect cross from Cureton was met by a bullet header from half-time substitute Callander from just inside the box.

The hosts effectively wrapped up their seventh straight win in the 66th minute when Scott Durojayie raced through and put the ball through Kitscha’s leg to restore the two goal cushion.

It did not get any better for the visitors as Ben Sampayo limped off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, and Stortford will look to regroup when they travel to Folkestone on Saturday.
