Haines returns for Blues

Blues have re-signed the seventh member of last season’s squad with defender Mark Haines returning to the ProKit UK Stadium.
mh1Haines brings some experience to a young Stortford line-up, and arrived for his second spell on loan from Chelmsford City just before Christmas. Hi first spell with the Blue Brazil was also on a month’s loan from the Clarets in early 2012 when the Blues were in the Conference League North. He made his Stortford debut in a home 1-1 draw with Workington.
mh2Despite struggling with injuries, Haines made 14 appearances during the second half of the season as Blues made a late run at the play-offs.
“I’m really pleased that we have agreed a deal with Mark” said joint boss Steve Smith. “It’s great news for the club and I think that he will do a really good job for us”
Earlier in his career the 29-year-old made a number of appearances for Northampton Town’s reserve team during the 2007/08 season after spells with West Ham United and Southend United in their younger age groups. He then joined Grays Athletic in the Blue Square Bet Premier the following campaign before joining the Chelmsford City squad in the 2009/10 term. He was named as the “Young player-of-the-year” in that first season at Chelmsford and prior to leaving them last week he was the Essex side’s longest serving player with over 250 first team appearances.

Haines joins Sam Robbins, Johnville Renee, Alfie Mason, Alex Warman, Jack Thomas and joint player/manager Jamie Cureton who have all put pen to paper as Stortford look to build on their seventh place finish
