Haines joins on loan

Central defender Mark Haines has joined the Blues on a month’s loan from Chelmsford City and is expected to be in the squad for Boxing Day’s home game against Harlow Town (1pm).

It will be Haines’ second loan spell at the ProKit UK Stadium having had a month with us in the 2011/12 campaign when we were in Conference North. The month, mid-January to mid-February 2012, was badly hit weather wise and he only played three matches two of which were league matches. His debut was in a home 1-1 draw with Workington and his last game away at Droylesden which finished 2-2, all the goal in those fixtures were all scored by Dwight Gayle.

Haines made a number of appearances for Northampton Town reserves during the 2007/08 campaign after spells with West Ham United and Southend United in their younger youth age groups. This preceded a move to Grays Athletic in the Blue Square Bet Premier the following season, where he appeared against Chelmsford in the clubs’ League Cup clash. He impressed City’s management sufficiently during the 2009/10 pre-season to earn a place in the squad, subsequently becoming the club’s Young-Player-of-the-Year. Mark is currently the Clarets’ longest serving player having made nearly 250 appearances for them.
