BLUES will meet former Conference South rivals for the second successive week when they travel to Margate on Saturday.
A 4-2 victory against Whitehawk saw Steve Smith and Jamie Cureton’s team move up to sixth in the Bostik League Premier Division, and they will face a side five places and three points behind them having taken 22 points from 16 games.
Their FA Cup campaign saw a 3-2 home win against Horndean before losing 2-0 at National League South side Concord Rangers, while they went out of the FA Trophy at the first stage with a 2-1 home loss against league rivals Potters Bar Town.
The sides last met in the 2016/17 season, with both teams winning on their opponent’s ground as Margate ended the season as the only team below Blues. A 2-0 loss against the Kent side in September hastened the end of Gordon Boateng’s brief spell as manager but in the return Greg Cundle gave Blues a first half lead, before Phil Walsh scored on his debut to make it 2-0 just after the beak and Emmanuel Adebowale wrapped things up 20 minutes from time.
‘Gate were relegated to the Bostik League and finished just outside the play-off zone in seventh last season before Blues joined them in the competition this year.
