Flint pleased with performance
Despite Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against a strong Dagenham & Redbridge team on Saturday, new Blues boss Adam Flint was pleased with how his side played:
“I thought we did really well to be honest” he said. “We’re working to a game plan, and it’s not the finished article yet.
“We could do with getting the ball forward quicker, but we could easily have been 2-1 up at half time.
“When we made the changes it hindered us a bit, but that’s fairly common in friendlies . Their second goal was a bit lucky as he hit into the ground.
“The lad who’d come just come on wasn’t switched on for the corner that led to the third goal, so I think that a draw would have been a fair result.
“We created some decent chances, and we’ve still got some players to come in. So it’s looking good.
“I was pleased with how Darren Foxley linked up with the front men, he’ll play against Southend and then we’ll sit down and have a chat.”
Blues return to action this evening when Southend United are the visitors. Kick-off is 7.45pm for a game in which the Shrimpers are expected to bring their first team. However, admission prices have been slashed to £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. Accompanied under-12s are admitted free.
