Blues through in league cup

Goals from Olly Miles, Ryan Charles, Jamie Cureton and Hector Kyprianou, together with an own goal set up a last eight trip to Mertsham in January.
With four players – Luke Callander, Nick Brown, Ben Sampayo and Ryan Henshaw  – cup tied, it was a much changed Stortford side that took the field at The Maurice Rebak Stadium.
And the visitors  received a further blow in the warm-up when captain Sam Robbins picked up an injury and was replaced by Alex Warman who made his first senior start.
Despite those changes, it took only three minutes for Blues to open the scoring when when Cureton broke away down the left and squared for Miles to tap home from inside the six yard area.
Cureton, Charles Jack Thomas all went close to getting a second before Charles doubled the lead in the 35th minute when he met a pinpoint cross from Cureton and slotted under the home keeper.
The home side – watched by a bumper crowd of 54 – reduced the arrears 13 minutes into the second half when a miscommunication between Crowther and Kitscha lead to a handball and former Blue Calvin Ekpiteta netted from the resultant free kick
But that two-goal advantage was restored four minutes later when Cureton shook off a defender and a headed home a deep cross from Charles.
It was all over in the 67th minute when great work from Ryan Charles down the right hand side saw him fire in a low cross that defender Ola Williams turned into his own net.
Hector Kyprianou wrapped up te scoring eight minutes later as Cureton set up his third goal of the night, swinging in a free-kick that the youngster rose highest to nod home.
There time for late debuts by substitutes Lewis Wicker and Anderson Silva, and Cureton went close with a cheeky 30-yard effort but Blues wrapped up their biggest win of the campaign to progress to the last eight.
