Blues 5 Wivenhoe 0 – full report and pics

Four second half goals helped Blues continue their good pre-season form with a comfortable 5-0 home win against Wivenhoe Town, on Saturday, and they made it five games unbeaten..
Yassier Nazor gave the home side a seventh minute lead, before two goals from Luke Callander, Ryan Charles, Olly Miles and a rather splendid own goal from Nick Martin completed the win.
Blues were without Aaron Greene, Ryan Henshaw and Mark Haines but never looked in trouble against the Eastern Counties League Division One South side.
Nazer and Johnville Renee – returning after a trial at Barnet – caused problems for the visitors in the first half, and Blues opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Nazer converted from a Jamie Cureton cross.
The lead was doubled seven minutes into the second half when good work between Cureton and Charles saw Callander convert at the far post.
Within five minutes it was 3-0 when Dan Williams needlessly brought down Charles as he headed away from goal, and the man they call “Spider” got up to convert the spot kick.
Substitute Olly Miles hit the bar before Blues made it 4-0 in the 69th minute as a long punt forward from Jack Thomas saw Dennis head the ball over onrushing keeper for an own goal.
While Cureton didn’t have a lot of luck attempting to add to his impressive goal tally, he did set up Miles for the fifth as he crossed into the box for the youngster to round the goalie and slot home.

Thomas went close to setting up a sixth as Cureton saw his effort fall into the keeper’s arms as Blues closed out a comfortable win.
Stortford return to action with a home game against Royston Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) before Histon are the visitors for our final pre-season game next Saturday.
