Blues will be on a revenge mission when they travel to Potters Bar Town for a Bostik League fixture on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm.
The Scholars knocked Stortford out of the FA Cup at Watkins Rise last season with a 1-0 win. In retrospect, that loss against them wasn’t as disappointing as it first seemed as Town sealed promotion from Ryman North by finishing second despite being deducted three points for fielding an ineligible player.
Their FA Cup run ended the round after they defeated Blues, losing a home replay against Hampton & Richmond Borough, while they won through a couple of rounds in the FA Trophy before going out – again in a home replay – against Southern League champions Hereford. Their success saw average crowds at Parkfield grow to 131.
Bar’s first season in the third tier of non-league football has seen them take 16 points from their first 12 games, though goals have been hard to come by in their games with only 12 scored and 11 conceded.
After winning 2-0 at Aveley, they went out of the FA Cup at the same stage as Blues with a 2-1 loss at Hanwell Town. They also won a league cup tie 2-1 at Harlow Town before going out on penalties at Hayes & Yeading following a 2-2 draw.
