Blues’ comeback holds O’s – report & pics added

b1A stunning second half comeback saw Blues recover from a three goal deficit to draw 3-3 with a strong Leyton Orient team on Tuesday.
A big crowd saw the home side take control after the break as goals from Luke Callander, player-boss Jamie Cureton and Aaron Greene gave them a share of rhe spoils.Blues started well with Jamie Cureton looking dangerous and wingers Ryan Charles and Aaron Greene causing probles down the flanks, so it was against the run of play that Orient took a 17th minute lead.
Jordan Maguire-Drew took a short corner and found Lee Angol who fired into the top of the net.
That lead was doubled eight minutes as Angol broke through and Ryan Henshaw was unlucky to be adjudged to have tripped him after his shot had been saved by Fred Burbridge. Maguire-Drew blasted the resulting spot kick home.b4
A rout looked on the cards as Orient added a third on the half-hour mark, with Angol slotting home after a good ball from Dale Gorman.
But Blues stabilised things, and it took just 50 seconds for the home side to reduce the arrears when a ball over the top caught out O’s defence and Luke Callander fired home with former Stortford keeper Arthur Janata unable to get his body in front of the shot.
b3The goal clearly buoyed the Blue Brazil, and they reduced the arrears on the hour mark when Green’s corner found Mark Haines and he knocked on towards Orient’s goal where Cureton flicked in from close range.
Cureton left the action in the 69th minute, but three minutes later Blues were on level terms as Greene swung in a free kick in front of the home bench, and although it took the slightest of touches the winger was credited with the equaliser.
Both sides could have snatched a winner, but it will be Cureton and co-boss Steve Smith who will be happier with the result as Blues made it four pre-season games unbeaten.
Blues: F Burbridge, S Robbins, J Thomas, Y Nazor, M Haines, H Morgan, A Greene, J Cureton, R Charles, L Callander. Subs: B Sampayo, A Warman, O Miles, K Lowe, B Holmes, D Olusemo.
