Blues 0 Enfield 0

e5Blues’ first home game of the season ended in a goalless stalemate on Saturday in a game where both sides lacked a cutting edge.
Enfield, playing at their new home for the first time, will probably be happier with the result but it did see Blues extend their early season unbeaten run to three games,
Aaron Greene continued to shine following his return to the Blue Brazil, and he created most of the early chances of his side, terrorising the Enfield defence with an early run down the wing before putting in a cross that eluded the Stortford forward line before forcing a good save from Lewis Hawley with a shot from the edge of the box.
e2Fred Burbridge saved well from Haroon as the “visitors” had their first shot of the game, but Blues continued to create the majority of the chances with Billy Holmes curling a shot just wide and Luke Callander failing to net from close range after another excellent Greene cross.
A good move in the Enfield half ended with Jack Thomas firing high and wide as Blues finished the half in control but without a goal to show for their efforts.
e4Enfield had the first chance of the second half with Bubridge tipping Bradbury’s free-kick around the post.
e1Half-time substitute Olly Miles quickly got involved in the action, getting behind the defence but just failing to lob Harley before sending a cross into the box that failed to find a blue shirt.
A three minute spell midway through the second half saw Ryan Charles have a shot cleared off the line after an excellent move and both Kane Lowe and Alex Warman force good saves from Harley.
Miles twice went close with 15 minutes remaining, seeing a shot cleared before hitting the bar from close range.
Blues could have sealed it as the game entered added time with Harley producing a stunning double save as first Charles and then Miles fired from close range following a corner.
