Looking back – Blues v Gosport

As we prepare to host Gosport Borough on Saturday, Blues’ fan Andrew Bubien has chosen our first ever match against Gosport on the 5th October 2013 to look back on.

Blues had made a sound start in the Conference South and were seventh in the league table. The previous week we had commenced our run in the F A Cup with a win at Hendon which would eventually see Northampton Town and the television cameras converge on Stortford in November.

Gosport Borough had been promoted from the Southern League via the play offs at the end of the 2012/13 season but were finding life in the Conference rather difficult sitting in 21st place with only one win from eight league matches.

Goals from Sean Francis, Matt Johnson, Cliff Akurang and Kyle Vassell gave Blues a comfortable 4-0 win and Gosport plenty to think about on their return to Hampshire.
