MATCH REPORT: Carshalton Athletic 4 – 2 BSFC

Bishop’s Stortford suffer back to back away losses with a 4-2 defeat away at Carshalton Athletic.

After the 5-0 defeat on Tuesday at Enfield Town, the Blues were looking to bounce back with a win against the team that ended our winning run and our race for the play-offs at the end of last season.

Omar Koroma struck in the third minute shooting high in the middle of the goal from the edge of the box, and had a chance to double the Robins’ lead soon after when a fizzed cross by Ricky Korboa narrowly missed the target.

After the hosts dominated early on, the Blues equalised from a beautiful cross from the left to the back post where Luke Callander was waiting to head home.

And just as the Blues were in the ascendancy, Carshalton won a soft penalty when Sam Robbins fouled an attacker in front of goal, Jeremiah Amoo converted from the spot.

It was 2-1 at the break, after a lengthy stoppage for an injury to a Carshalton player, with Daniel Pappoe and Adeyinka Adeniyi visibly upset with Ryan Henshaw and Jamie Cureton, with the two home players shoving and shouting at the Blues boys.

After two chances for Callander to equalise early in the second half, it was Carshalton who scored next as Pappoe rose highest to head home from a free kick wide in the right.

Cureton reduced the deficit to one after he got in behind the defence and scored on the volley, before Koroma thought he should have had a penalty for a foul at the other end, only for the referee to shake his head prompting a tantrum on the turf from the Robins forward.

Jack Thomas made a brilliant block in front of goal, before minutes later another block by Thomas bounced right back to Koroma to shoot low into the right corner.

The results mean Carshalton Athletic move up to 13th in the league, while the Blues drop to 15th.

Our next match isn’t until Bank Holiday Monday 26th August away against Kingstonian.
