VOTE FOR YOUR DEVINES PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER

VOTE FOR YOUR DEVINES PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER

It’s time to decide on Bishop’s Stortford Football Club’s Devines Player of the Month — who will you vote for?

The ‘21/22 season has started to pick up for our Blues, with Steve Smith’s men picking up their first wins in the league and recording three victories in a row that sandwich our only loss this month – our FA Cup Second Round Qualifying exit to Bowers & Pitsea.

The first game of the month welcomed Lowestoft Town to the R&D Advisors UK Stadium for an FA Cup fixture that saw Jake Cass bag a hat-trick, with all of his strikes assisted by Frankie Merrifield.

A week later, Merrifield would become the goalscorer against AFC Hornchurch. Heading in from a brilliant Jonny Giles cross, our number-10 earned the Blues a 1-0 victory over May’s FA Trophy winners in what was a clinical performance.

Hoping to keep up their good run of form, the squad travelled to Brightlingsea. In Essex, the side delivered a 4-1 victory with Archie Edwards grabbing his first goal for the club – congrats Archie! Ryan Charles opened the scoring in the rain, with Edwards, Merrifield and Cass all chipping in after half-time.

Despite our best efforts, our form didn’t carry through to the FA Cup where we were knocked out by Bowers & Pitsea.

No-one would’ve expected the result that followed, however, as the Blues recorded a 7-0 league win against Leatherhead FC. Jake Cass grabbed his second hattrick of the season, and the month, whilst Archie Jones scored his first of the campaign. There were also goals for Frankie Merrifield and Ryan Charles, with plenty of assists for Jonny Giles who put in a standout display on the wing. Sam Robbins also put in a heroic performance, having picked up the captains armband following an injury to Ryan Henshaw.

So, with September behind us, and Autumn in full-swing, who was your Devines Player of the Month?
