We can announce that Blues Captain Ryan Henshaw has accepted an approach to join Isthmian Premier side Billericay Town.
Central defender Ryan joined the Blues in November 2018 and went on to net 13 times in 164 appearances for the club.
Ryan skippered the Blues to the club’s first title in 29 years last season and has now chosen to return to the Isthmian Premier with Billericay Town.
Speaking on Ryan’s departure, manager Steve Smith said: “Obviously I’m very disappointed that Ryan has chosen to leave the football club. We spoke at length and I did everything I could to keep him here but ultimately he believes this is the best decision for him and his family.
It goes without saying that Ryan has been a huge part of this football club and our success over the past 5 years. I want to thank him for his services, for the memories he has helped create here and wish him all the best in the next stage of his career”.
Manager Smith also provided an update on incomings to the club: “Whilst it is disappointing to lose Ryan, no player is bigger than the club and we must move on. We signed a very experienced defender in Kyran Clements last week and expect to be in a position to announce two more by the end of the weekend, one of whom will be a very familiar and popular addition with supporters.”
