RIP Fred Maskell

Blues fan Fred Maskell sadly passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at home on Monday 6th July, aged 78 years.

Fred played for Bishop’s Stortford in the early 1960s and supported the club ever since. He stuck with the team during the highs and lows over the decades, including some amazing memories such as the 1981 FA Trophy victory at Wembley and the 1983 FA Cup replay at home against Middlesborough.

Right up to the recent lockdown, Fred was attending Blues matches come rain or shine. Whatever the results, he loved watching the team and catching up with his footie mates.

Fred will be greatly missed by his family, and I’m sure also by the many friends he had through a mutual love of football.
