Kings Lynn Town 3-2 Bishop’s Stortford Match Report 24/10/23

Vanarama National League North

Hamish Arnold

Kings Lynn Town scored the winning goal with the last kick of the game in the fifth minute of injury time to condemn Bishop’s Stortford to a seventh consecutive away defeat, and an eighth loss in the last 10 matches. The Blues had trailed twice in the Vanarama National League North encounter in Norfolk, equalising each time but couldn’t find a third goal as the Linnets took the three points with a 3-1 win.

Bartosz Cybulski opened the scoring for the hosts on 24 minutes, heading home from close range after a counter-attack from a Stortford corner. Harrison Sodje dribbled into the box and passed back to Gio McGregor on the edge of the box, whose low shot found the bottom left corner via a deflection off Joshua Coulson. Into the second half and the hosts took the lead on the hour mark, from a free kick near the corner of the box on the right conceded by Aaron Greene, Coulson stabbed home at the far post to take the lead once again for Kings Lynn. Greene thought he had nicked a point with an 88th minute goal, with a close range finish from Tosin Olufemi’s cross, but deep into injury time, substitute William Jones chested down a drop ball into Jack Smith’s path who found the bottom right corner.
