George Casey RIP
The club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Blues defender George Casey, aged just 26.
George was a feature of Kevin Watson’s side during our 2017/18 campaign, making his Stortford debut on Saturday 12th August 2017 in a 2-1 away defeat at Tiverton Town in the Southern League Premier.
He went on to make 50 appearances for the club (43 league, 7 cup), netting his only
Blues goal in March 2018, a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw away at St Neots Town.
George’s final appearance for the club came on 28th April 2018, a 1-1 draw at home to Stratford Town.
Former Blues manager Kevin Watson said of George’s passing: “It’s extremely difficult to take in and process this terrible news. We had George as a youngster at Stevenage and I saw something in him, so took him with me to Bishop’s Stortford. He was brilliant for me during my time at the club and became a leader in a very young squad even though he was still a young man himself. It’s incredibly sad as George had his whole life in front of him. My sincere condolences are with George’s family and friends at this time”.
Everybody at Bishop’s Stortford Football Club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to George’s family, friends former teammates and everybody who knew him at this sad time.
