Stortford’s Academy returned to winning ways scoring five times before the interval as they had the better of this eight goal thriller on Wednesday afternoon.
Alex Rogers gave Stortford the lead in the 4th minute netting direct from a 20 yard free-kick. The visitors levelled in the 13th minute following an excellent solo run and goal from Callum Fuller.
Two fine shots by George Bartlam in the space of three minutes resulted in the Blues going 3-1 ahead by the 22nd minute and the lead was extended in the 35th minute when a Rogers’ header was on target.
Five minutes before the break it was five with skipper Jack Thomas, in space, shooting home from 12 yards after a Sam Philpot corner. However, Kade Ivatt reduced the arrears for the Suffolk side two minutes later when the Blues defence failed to deal with a long ball into the box.
There was only one goal in the second half and that was a penalty for Sudbury in the 77th minute that was converted by substitute Oliver Dunlop.
