Farnborough trip for Blues

jc300After seeing Tuesday’s home game against Gosport Borough was frozen off, Blues will hope to travel to Farnborough continue their Evo-Stik South Premier campaign, on Saturday.

The game will see Jamie Cureton will return to his former club having had three spells with before joining Blues at the start of 2018, and the 42-year-old striker has scored five goals in eight appearances since the move.

Boss Kevin Watson will have Marvel Ekpiteta available again after missing Saturday’s 4-0 win against Frome Town due to suspension, and they will face a Farnborough side whose form has been erratic all season.

With the midweek programme wiped out by the weather, the Hampshire side go into the game sitting in 15th spot with 47 points from 36 games.

While Spencer Day’s side has beaten high-flying Kings Lynn and Hitchin Town, they have also lost against both of the bottom two who have only five wins between them.

There games have seen plenty of goals, 155 in 36 games, and with 86 conceded they seem to be well on the way to letting in over a century of goals.

Jordan Westcott’s late goal salvaged a deserved points for the Blues when the sides met at the ProKit (UK Stadium in November.

Jason Williams had levelled the score for the home side, but Borough looked to have grabbed all three points when they netted from a corner in the 90th minute before Westcott scored four minutes into injury time.
