Blues will face the sternest test of their pre-season campaign on Tuesday when Southend United are expected to bring their full first team squad to the ProKit UK Stadium.

Southend opened their pre-season campaign on Saturday, and first-half goals from Simon Cox and Marc-Antoine Fortune helped them to a 2-1 win at Braintree Town. However they had to play the final half an hour with 10-men after Michael Timlin reacted badly to a high challenge by former Blue Scott Shulton, receiving a straight red card

Admission is just £8 for adults and £5 for concessions on Tuesday. Accompanied under-12s are free.

The Shrimpers have been regular visitors to Stortford in recent years, and having narrowly missed out on a place in the League One play-offs, finishing 15th with 59 points from 46 games. A 1-0 loss at Millwall saw them exit the FA Cup at the first hurdle while a 3-1 home loss against Gillingham also saw them go out of the League Cup in the first round. They had more success in the  Checkatrade Trophy with a 2-0 home win against Brighton & Hove Albion under-23s and a 4-0 home victory against Leyton Orient before taking in easy in their first group game, going down 4-0 at Stevenage. In the first knockout stage they drew 1-1 at home against eventual finalists Oxford United before being eliminated on penalties.
