Rod’s rallying call ahead of Rangers game

rod v whitehawk“The season starts to Saturday for us.” That’s the message from Blues manager Rod Stringer as his side prepare to host Concord Rangers on Saturday afternoon.

With the Beachboys having knocked a depleted Barnet side out of the FA Trophy on Tuesday, Stringer knows that Saturday is an important game for the Blues – but he has some positive team news ahead of the game:

Concord have had a tremendous season, and they remind me of us last year – they just haven’t had a ten week layoff after going out of the cup. They’re a hard working side and they got quite a bit of quality in their team. It’s a six pointer for us, really. In many ways it’s a six-pointer, if we can win on Saturday we’ll be within a couple of point of Concord. Obviously they have games in hand, but we saw last year, that doesn’t always help you.

Anthony-Church-272x220“ We’ve done well against the better teams this season, and I’m hoping that both Ashley Miller and Anthony Church will be back for the game. Cheye Alexander has done well for us, but Ashley brings some more experience and having Churchy back is like a new signing. He comes into his own on the heavy pitches. Pretty football won’t always get you away from the relegation zone, we need a bit of bite and grit when the going’s tough”

Stringer also hopes to announce a new signing before Saturday’s game, so keep checking bsfc.co.uk.
