Looking forward – Blues v Canaries

We’ve already seen a lot of Hitchin Town this season – some may say too much – who are our visitors to the ProKit UK Stadium on Tuesday. But the five times we’ll play the Canaries this season pales into insignificance compared to the 1971/2 season when we played them a staggering  eight times. Four of…

Andrew Cornell looks back on Blues’ games on December 16th Not many big games on this date just before Christmas, local derbies are usually saved up for just after Christmas rather than just before. However in 2006 we met St Albans City in an entertaining FA Trophy first round game during our neighbours one season…

A LOOK BACK AT BLUES’ GAMES ON DECEMBER 15th Fifty-two years ago on this day Blues suffered one of their heaviest ever defeats losing 10-2 away to Cambridge Town (now City). To be fair Stortford had almost gone into hibernation during the war and had been playing a handful of friendlies against military teams mainly….

A LOOK BACK AT BLUES’ GAMES ON DECEMBER 13th The biggest game on this date was undoubtedly in 1975. On this date 36 years ago we made the FA Cup 2nd Round for only the 2nd time in the club’s history. After good wins away against Chelmsford City (2-0) and Dartford (4-1) we were drawn…

Tim Moylette’s side will hope to wrap up 2017 with a victory when Ipswich Wanderers are the visitors next Wednesday, kick-off 1pm. Admission to Academy games is free.

In those days Enfield were still a force to be reckoned with in non-league football although they were placed 11th in the Isthmian League Premier Division and beginning…

Blast from the past

Andrew Cornell looks back at Blues games on December 11th We have played two FA Cup second round games on this date including, in 1982 our only ever win at this stage. After beating Reading in the first round it was disappointing to be drawn away to a side from the same league. The game…
