Next up: Torquay United
As Torquay United prepare to face the Blues in the FA Trophy at the ProKit (UK) Stadium on Saturday, manager Chris Hargreaves isn’t taking anything for granted.
Hargreaves is clearly taking the tie seriously and says he wants the prize money to save the chairman having to bankroll the club: We’re looking to win the game to help the club so that Thea [Bristow] doesn’t have to keep putting her hand in her purse,” he said.
But Hargreaves says he may make changes to his side to give some players a rest.
“We are going to have to look at the squad because we’re a little bit depleted at the moment,” he told BBC Radio Devon.
The Gulls come into the game sitting in seventh spot with 39 points from 25 games, and their last six games have seen them take eight points.
Tuesday evening saw a 2-1 home win against our old sparring partners from Conference North, FC Halifax Town with goals from Ryan Bowman and Duane Ofori-Acheampong.
It will be the third season that Torquay have competed in the Trophy, as they return following their relegation from the Football League, with their last appearance in the competition seeing a 3-0 defeat at Southport in the last 16 in 2009. The previous season had seen the Gulls get to Wembley before losing 1-0 against Ebbsfleet United in the final.
Saturday’s tie will see normal matchday prices and arrangements in place. Admission prices are adults £12, concessions £7, students (with ID) £6, under-16a £5, under-12 free with an adult.
If the score is level at the end of 90 minutes the replay will take place at Plainmoor on Tuesday December 16, kick-off 7.45pm with the same matchday prices.
