Blues were made to pay for failing to take their chances as they went down 2-0 at Vanarama Conference South leaders Boreham Wood, on Boxing Day.

Ashley MillerJoe Wright returned in the Blues goals after three months out of the team and made a blinding first half save, while Bayan Fenwick made his debut as a later substitute,

Rod Stringer’s side were without influential striker Mikel Suarez but had the better of the chances in the first half, with Sheldon Sellears creating plenty of chances for the visitors.

Ashley Miller blazed wide from a perfect James Walker cross in the 53rd minute and Blues were made to pay less than two minutes later when Graeme Montgomery set up Lee Angol to fire home.

Miller forced a good save from home keeper James Russell shortly afterwards, but Wood sealed the win ten minutes before time when Graeme Montgomery again did most of the work before setting up Angol.

Blues will look to bounce back when they host Havant & Waterlooville at 3pm on Sunday.
