Looking back – Blues v Dorchester

PB3As the Blue Brazil prepare to face Dorchester Town on Saturday, Stortford fan Andrew Bubien looks back at the 2004/5 season when we had our first ever meetings with the Dorset club in the newly formed Conference South.

We played at Dorchester in the November and came away with a 4-3 defeat after leading at half-time. The return match at Woodside Park was due to be played on the 5th March but had to be postponed due to the pitch being unfit.

The match was eventually played on the 22nd March and the matchday programme from the original date was re-issued with an eight page update. By that time the Blues had reached the F A Trophy semi-final and although placed 10th in the league still had an outside chance of making the play – offs with games in hand over the clubs above them.

Goals from Steve Parmenter and Boniek Forbes gave Stortford a 2-1 win and moved them up to eighth position.
