Lewes trip for Blues

BLUES will look to put their league woes behind them when they travel to Lewes in the FA Trophy, on Saturday.

fa-trophy-big-benKevin Watson’s side followed up Tuesday’s 2-0 home loss against Kettering Town with a 3-1 defeat at Stratford Town on Saturday, and they will face another tough game in Sussex.

A 4-0 win at East Grinstead Town on Friday saw Lewes remain four points clear at the top of Bostik League Division One South having lost only once in 15 league games.

While they are a division lower than Blues, Lewes won 4-1 at Stortford’s Southern League rivals Dunstable Town in the previous round and have scored 16 goals in the last three games.

The clubs last met in Conference South in the 2010/11 as both sides were embroiled in a relegation battle. Stortford won 1-0 at home before their 2-1 victory at the Dripping Pan saw them avoid the drop and helped consign the hosts to relegation.

If the game is a draw the replay will be at the ProKit UK Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm).
