Linnets in town on Tuesday
Blues will look to bounce back from Saturday’s loss at Tiverton Town when they host Kings Lynn Town on Tuesday. kick-off 7.45pm.
The Linnets opened their season by taking all three Evo-Stik South Premier points on Saturday as a goal in each half gave them a 2-0 win against Gosport Borough.
It’s highly likely that the Linnets played loads of pre-season games, but I couldn’t find any details on their rather shiny website, but they wrapped up their warm-ups with a 1-0 victory at Lowestoft Town thanks to a Craig Parker goal.
Despite the date on their badge, KLT are not the club who won 5-3 at Woodside Park in the FA Cup first round back in 2006, but a reformed version who have completed their second season in the Southern League Premier in 13th place with 60 points from 46 games following their transfer from the Northern Premier League. Despite Ian Culverhouse’s team finishing four places lower than the previous season, crowds were up 11 percent at The Walks with an average of 544. It took the new club just three years to return to the third tier of non-league football during which time they scored an incredible 343 in 122 games.
Normal prices apply in Tuesday: £11 for adults, £7 for concessions, while accompanied under-12s remain free.
