Home loss for young Blues
Blues Academy 2 Boreham Wood Whites 3
A very niggly contest saw Tim Moylette ‘s academy side lose narrowly at the Stadium on Monday to a team pushing for the league title.
Goals from Quba Gordon and Frank Keita in the first ten minutes put the visitors two up and matters took a turn for the worst in the 23rd minute when Jordan Brown was red carded seconds after being subbed.
However, Ross Gill cut the lead on the half hour netting at the back post following a Callum O’Brien corner.
Wood had the better of exchanges on the restart but had to wait until the 85th minute for their third goal with Alexander Morgan breaking on the right before beating keeper Aron Martin.
George Bartlam headed Stortford’s second goal after an O’Brien free kick just two minutes later but despite nearly eight minutes of added time the Blues were unable to force an equaliser.
The Academy remain in mid-table and they are at home again on Wednesday when they entertain AFC Sudbury, ko 1pm.
