4NZZJIB7Blues boss Rod Stringer has strengthened his defence ahead of Saturday’s home Vanarama South clash against Concord Rangers with the addition of centre half Rickie Hayles.

Hayles joins from Lowestoft Town after signing from Canvey Island in the summer, and made 22 appearances for the Vanarama Conference North side this season.

Twenty-five year-old Hayles was part of the AFC Hornchurch side that won promotion to the Blue Square South via the playoffs in 2011/12, featuring in both the semi-final and final victories against Bury Town and Lowestoft Town respectively. Hayles and the rest of the Urchins’ defence was the best in the Ryman Premier League in their promotion year, conceding only 35 goals in 42 matches.

He has previously played for Thurrock, East Thurrock United, Tilbury, Eton Manor and Brentwood Town.

In other news, Ryan Melaugh has joined Billericay Town after being released from the Blues earlier in the week.
