Blast from the past

Andrew Cornell looks back at Blues’ games on May 1 Until the introduction of playoffs widely in non-league football in 2004-05 we regularly played league games in early May, either by design – our last Isthmian League game v Heybridge Swifts was played on this date, or due to fixture congestion. Blast from the past

Andrew Cornell looks backs on Blues’ games April 30th Most games played on this date are the last game of the season and either minor cup finals or meaningless league games. I will go back then to 1974 when the game was not only important but far from the last game of the season. The…

Clean sweep for Foxley

Winger Darren Foxley collected a clean sweep of awards as Blues held their presentation evening following Saturday’s draw against Stratford. The winger won the Supporters’ Player-of-the-Year, Manager’s Player-of-the-Year and Players’ Player-of-the-Year after a season that saw him finish as the club’s joint highest league goalscorer with 13 goals. Up for the cup at the ProKit

While Blues finish their first – and maybe only – Southern League season on Saturday, there’s still plenty of cup final action at the ProKit UK Stadium over the next few weeks.   Harlow Sunday League Sunday 29th April, 3pm – Invitational Cup final –  Risdenwood v Harlow Rangers Sunday May 6th, ,1.30pm – Div 3…

Blast from the past

Andrew Cornell looks back at Blues’ games on April 27th In 2013 on this date we played the last game of our two season stint in Conference North at Oxford City. There was nothing to play for as City were in mid-table while we had mathematically avoided relegation. Overall Stortford could be satisfied with their…
