Blues to make Evo-Stik debut
Blues maker their Evo-Stik South debut on Saturday with one of their longest trips of the season, travelling to Devon to face newly promoted Tiverton Town.
They were dancing on the streets of Tivvvy as a crowd of 2,247 saw them win 2-0 at Salisbury City and return to the Southern Premier after five years at step 4. Twenty-two points from their final nine games saw The Yellows finish third in the table with 88 points from 46 games, and a crowd of 934 saw them beat visitors Taunton Town to set up the trip to Salisbury. Crowds at Ladysmead were up by over a third to 266 in Tivvy’s 18th Southern League history, and prior to joining it they had won four Western League titles and finished runners-up four times in the previous eight seasons.
In common with many of our opponents in our new league, it will be the first time that the Devon club have faced the Blues. They have had a mixed pre-season, opening with a 2-1 loss in front of 507 against Plymouth Argyle. They defeated Torquay United 3-1 before losing against Truro City (1-0 , Street (3-1) and Yeovil (4-1), wrapping up their friendlies by letting a two goal lead against Cullompton Rangers (nope, me neither) slip in a 2-2 draw.
Tivvy’s website hasn’t been updated, but last season’s admission prices were: Adults : £9.00, concessions: £6.50, under 16s: £1.00. Presumably promotion would’ve brought a rise to a tenner.
