Blues lose on the road
Blues can consider themselves unlucky not to leave Maidenhead with at least a point as went went down 2-1 against Hayes & Yeading on Saturday.
Rod Stringer’s team were on top for long periods of the game, and it took a blinding save from former Blues’ reserve keeper Calum Kitcha from a George Allen header to deny them a share of the spoils.
Joe Wright returned in goal due to Dave Gregory being unwell, and Stringer reverted to one up front with Ryan Melaugh and Spencer McCall replacing Rod Young and Sheldon Sellears in the starting line-up. With Harry Baker resuming his loan spell with Billericay, Scott Shulton was named on the bench as he started his third spell with the club, and came on for the final half an hour.
The visitors started well, but fell behind to the hosts’ first shot of the game when Daniel Wishmart netted after nine minutes.
That lead only last two minutes as Mikel Suaerz equalised after good work by Ashley Miller and Johnny Herd but what proved to be the winner came in the 25th minute when a mistake from Danny Fitzsimons allowed former Blue Tom Collins to take the ball around Wright and fire into an empty net.
Blues: J Wright, A Miller, J Herd, J Tabiri, G Allen, D Fitzsimons, R Auger (S Sellears 61), R Church, M Suarez (R Young 77), R Melaugh (S Shulton 61), S McCall. Unused subs:, G Sykes & P Anderson.
