Blues fire a blank in cup tie
Blues face a trip to Surrey on Tuesday evening after they were held to a goalless draw in their FA Cup second qualifying round tie against Tooting & Mitcham United.
The well-organised Ryman South side frustrated the hosts and could feel well satisfied with their performance.
The visitors were the more positive side in a first half lacking in action and it was only in the last twenty minutes that the tie livened up.
Substitute Sol Pinnock forced Blues’ keeper David Gregory into a fine save as soon as he came on and Stortford started to create openings with George Sykes going close in the 73rd minute, while both Ashley Miller and Sheldon Sellears foiled soon afterwards.
Stortford wasted more chances before the final whistle but in the end they were indebted to Gregory for another outstanding save when striker Danny Summers broke clear in the last minute of normal time.
